During the pandemic in March 2020, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Yovana Bustamante and Alex Arroyo, along with their three children, Destiny Sky, John "JR," and Yoviely Isabella, founded Posibilidades Infinitas with a clear purpose: to develop a supportive community that would make a real difference in the lives of Latino families affected by the autism spectrum. Born from a family conversation, every aspect of the organization, from its name to its mission, was collaboratively designed.

Posibilidades Infinitas distinguishes itself by focusing on Latino families, recognizing the linguistic and social barriers that often marginalize this community. Our commitment is to provide a safe and welcoming space where families feel understood and supported, offering resources and education in their native languages so they can effectively advocate for their children's needs.

Our work not only supports individual families but also contributes to creating a well-informed and empowered Latino community, strengthening family bonds, and fostering leadership within the community.

What makes us different?

Vision

We envision a vibrant and inclusive Latino community where children, youth, and families on the autism spectrum feel accepted, respected, and empowered to reach their fullest potential.

The Team

Neurodiversity: We celebrate and value neurodiversity as a natural and valuable expression of human variability. We strive to create an environment where neurological differences are respected and considered fundamental aspects of a person's identity and experience. Our focus is on empowering neurodivergent individuals to recognize themselves as full and valuable members of society.

Community: At Posibilidades Infinitas, we believe that community is the foundation of collective well-being and growth. We foster a sense of belonging and mutual support among families, neurodivergent individuals, and allies. Our work focuses on building networks of solidarity and collaboration that strengthen our community, promoting inclusion, respect, and dignity for all. By working together, we create an environment where every person feels valued and their contributions are recognized as essential to everyone's progress.

Intersectionality: We recognize the importance of addressing the multiple and interconnected identities that affect Latino families on the autism spectrum. Our work is based on understanding that experiences of discrimination and exclusion cannot be separated from aspects such as race, social class, gender, and culture. By applying an intersectional approach, Posibilidades Infinitas seeks to understand and address the complex realities of our families, promoting inclusive solutions that respect and celebrate their diversity.

Justice: We are committed to justice for people with different abilities, advocating for the elimination of barriers, fighting discrimination, and promoting equal opportunities. At Posibilidades Infinitas, we work to ensure that all people with different abilities have access to the necessary resources and receive adequate support to live independently and with dignity.
